Joining the library
A Plymouth library card lets you borrow books, hire DVDs and CDs, use the internet for free and access our online reference library.
It's free and anyone who lives, works or studies in Plymouth can join.
You just need to show us something that confirms your name and address.
One of these items (if it has a signature or photograph):
- Driving licence
- Armed forces service card
- Solicitor’s tenancy agreement
- National ID card
Or two of these items:
- Utility bill
- Council tax bill
- Bank or building society statements
- State allowance book
- NHS medical card
- Prescription
- NS&I (National Savings and Investments) passbook
- Rentbook
- TV licence
- Solicitor’s tenancy agreement
- Hire purchase agreement
- Armed forces service card
- Inland revenue document
Or one of the above along with:
- a signed credit, debit or store account card
- a signed bus pass or proof of age card.
Membership form
You can download the library membership form from the documents table below. Just print it out and bring it to your local library along with your identification.
Terms and conditions of use are contained within the library byelaws.
Personal Identification Number (PIN)
You need a PIN if you want to renew or reserve books online, or use the internet in our libraries.
To get a PIN ask at your local library or email library@plymouth.gov.uk.
