Make a reading promise for the Year of Reading.

We've put together some suggestions or you can make up your own.

Our suggestions

  • Read at least 6 books
  • Share a book with a member of my family, friend or teacher
  • Read to my child at least once a week
  • Talk about books with someone else at least once a month
  • Read a newspaper or magazine at least once a week
  • Get help with my reading
  • Give a book as a gift to a relative or friend
  • Read a book by an author I’ve never heard of before
  • Join a reading group
  • Join a library
  • Donate a book to charity
  • Leave a book in a public place for someone else to read
  • Write a book review for my local library or school
