What do we do?

At Plymouth Schools Library Service we combine professional advice and high quality resources at a fair and reasonable cost to ensure that Plymouth schools benefit from one of the most successful Schools Library Services in the country. This ensures that Plymouth pupils receive the best possible Learning Resource provision to assist them in becoming independent learners.

How do we perform nationally?

• We serve more pupils
• We have more of our stock being used in schools
• We use a greater percentage of our budget to purchase books
• We replace more of our resources per annum

95 Plymouth schools buy into our service (92%):

• 81 are subscribing for 3 years
• 14 are subscribing for 1 year

In our 2005-2006 User Satisfaction survey 90% of respondents rated the service and value for money as 'very good' or 'good'.

We provide resources, advice and training regarding books, reading and libraries to suit the needs of individual customers. Schools can borrow and purchase books from us.

Opening hours

• Monday - 8.30am to 5.30pm
• Tuesday - 8.30am to 5.30pm
• Wednesday - 8.30am to 5.30pm
• Thursday - 8.30am to 5.30pm
• Friday - 8.30am to 4.30pm

We will stay open, by prior arrangement, until 6pm on a Monday to Thursday evening. If you would like to make use of this particular service, please advise us one week in advance of your intended visit.
