South West in Bloom
South West in Bloom is the regional competition held each year. It is promoted and organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). There are 10 entry levels, based on the local population and Plymouth enters the 'city' category.
In 2006 and 2007 we won the prestigious gold award and The South West Tourism Trophy in the city category. In 2007 the Micheal McGahey trophy was awarded for exceptional community effort across the city.
During July two judges will tour the city to assess the quality of planting, design and maintenance of our formal gardens and floral displays as well as our work in improving the local environment. Visit the judging criteria page for details of what the judges will be looking for.
A Plymouth in Bloom committee consisting of Plymouth City Council officers, community group representatives, local judging panel and businesses meet once a month to discuss progress and ideas for the current entry.
