Supporting Plymouth in Bloom

Have you got green fingers and would like to put your talent to the test? Do you have a garden Alan Titchmarsh would be proud of? Are your home grown carrots a horticultural triumph? Has your residents group been cleaning up the neighbourhood? Why not take part in Plymouth in Bloom?

If so, your efforts can help us win gold in South West in Bloom and Entente Florale 2008.

It's not just about flower beds, its also about community initiatives, environmental improvements, nature conservation projects and educational programmes are as important.

So, if you've joined forces with your neighbours to spruce up a community garden, launched an assault on beach litter or if your garden, window boxes or hanging baskets are your pride and joy, we want to hear from you.

Enter one of our Plymouth in Bloom competitions and let us celebrate your hard work. You will be helping us to show what a difference local residents make and you may even win an award for your efforts.

Our Plymouth in Bloom competition is open to all residents, businesses, community groups and schools and aims to celebrate and improve our local environment and quality of life. There are categories for Council tenants, private residents, businesses, allotment holders and schools. Not only do we present trophies for the best entries, there are also regional competition awards up for grabs.

Residents

  • Enter your front garden, floral display, balcony display or hanging baskets for one of our awards.
  • Get involved - tell us if there is something we are doing well and let us know if there are any improvements you would like to see.

Council tenants

  • Our Tenant Participation Team runs a gardening competition, telephone 01752 306279 for more information.

Community groups/residents' association

  • Enter your garden, floral display or community project for one of our awards.
  • Let us know if there is something we can do to help you improve your local area.

  • Hotels, guest houses, pubs and wine bars, restaurant and retailers can also enter for one of our awards.
  • Organise a special display in support of the campaign.

Schools

  • This year's school poster design competition closes on the 23 May. The winners of the Plymouth in Bloom competition will be entered into the South West in Bloom poster competition.
  • Let us know if green fingered youngsters at your school are doing any important work in improving the local environment or if there's something you'd like us to help with.
