Orienteering in Central Park
Orienteering is a sport where you navigate between specially numbered posts (controls). These controls are identified on a map that also offers some suggested courses.
There are four courses in Central Park, from an all-ability 1.3km course which is suitable for wheelchairs, following tracks and paths close to the centre, to a hard 3.7km course to really test your skills.
Alternatively you can make up your own course from the 36 control points around the park.
Maps are available from the golf hut in Central Park or from the orienteering in devon website.
| Route colour | Number of controls | Distance | Difficulty | Estimated time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| White | 10 | 1.3km | Easy access | 30 minutes |
| Yellow | 9 | 1.8km | Introductory | 40 minutes |
| Orange | 13 | 3km | Moderate | 50 minutes |
| Light green | 15 | 3.7km | Hard | 1 hour |
| All controls | 36 | Can vary | Harder | Can vary |
