Facilities on site include:

  • full-size floodlit all weather pitch
  • six lane, full competition athletics track

All weather pitch

With the help of Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) and Plymouth Development Corporation (PDC) monies, this former MoD facility now has a full-size floodlit all weather pitch.

Athletics track

Plymouth City Council is fully committed to increasing participation and access to leisure facilities, and has invested over £20,000 since taking over the facility at Brickfields in October 2000. The Athletics facilities at brickfields holds a class UK Athletics track and field certification. The current 5 year certification follows an inspection in February 2007 and has the following restrictions.

  • Suitable for training and competitions under UK Athletic rules, but with a restricted runway on the long / triple jump facility whilst a new facility is being constructed.
  • Single direction pole-vault.
  • Not suitable for records.

Facilities include:

  • six lane (400m) synthetic track
  • 9m discus/hammer throwing cage
  • triple/long jump
  • high jump
  • shot put
  • javelin
  • pole vault
  • steeple chase
  • training/competition standard equipment and hurdles

Plymouth Athletics Club

Brickfields athletics track is home to the City of Plymouth Athletics Club. They offer a variety of coaching activities for all ages and abilities, and provide opportunities for competition.  Their training nights are Mondays Thursdays and Saturday mornings during the athletics season.

Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club (PARFC)

PARFC was born in 1875, raised from a hardcore of Devonport Dockyard Apprentices. Albion's 128 year history includes England international greats, from James Peters (1902) to the current Director of Rugby, Graham Dawe who has been instrumental in Albion's rise from Division Three to National Division One in three years.

As well as the mens National League side, the club also supports the West Country Warriors, the City of Plymouth under 19s Colts, a ladies team and is involved with an extensive schools programme across the city.

The club has strong links with the city and has a large family of supporters.

In September 2003 Albion moved its home ground to Brickfields Recreation Ground. On site they have a three-screen sports bar, a giant screen, fully functional kitchen and hospitality marquees making it an ideal location for functions or meetings for up to 400 people.
