Manadon Football Development Centre
Formerly owned by the MoD, Plymouth City Council, in partnership with FIFA, has funded the refurbishment of the full-size flood lit all weather pitch for local community use.
As a centre for football development, there are certain criteria that need to be fulfilled for Manadon to operate successfully. The centre has a development plan which includes the following objectives:
- increase participation
- increasing playing standards
- increase the number and quality of coaches and volunteers
- create links to other initiatives
Organisations and clubs who contribute to meeting one or more of these objectives will be given priority. Further details on the costs for all weather pitches are available on the All Weather Pitches Charges page.
Other facilities on site include:
- senior grass football pitch
- cricket pitch
- changing rooms
- car park
Plymouth Parkway Football Club
Plymouth Parkway's home ground Bolitho Park is situated within the Manadon Football Development Centre.
The club currently has two senior men's teams, one playing in the Carlsberg South Western League with the second team playing in the Plymouth and District Combination Premier Division. They also have an under 18s team plus teams at other ages in the Devon Junior and Minor League, including an under 11s girls team.
The club has recently gained the Football Association's Charter Standard Adult Club status and is working towards the prestigious Community Club Award. This award recognises the fact that they offer football activities to all members of the community from 8 years old up to veterans football, and that they follow best practice in terms of their club administration, child protection and have qualified coaches at all levels.
For more information, contact their Chairman on 01752 201918.
