Sports and recreational grant aid

Plymouth City Council is committed to supporting individuals, clubs and organisations to create opportunities to develop sport within Plymouth.

Financial assistance towards the cost of travel and accommodation when competing at events is no longer available. Instead, we now concentrate on helping people gain sporting qualification through relevant courses. We feel this approach will benefit the greatest number of people possible.

Who can apply?

• Individuals
• Voluntary sports clubs
• Other voluntary organisations, for example, community centres

Applicants must live within the recognised city boundaries, or represent a recognised Plymouth Sports Club or Organisation which is non-profit making.

What can you apply for?

Financial assistance towards the cost of a:

• Coaching course or sporting qualification
• Officiating course
• Leadership award
• Development/good practice workshop
• Sports related volunteer training course

How much financial assistance is available?

• Between 50% and 75% of the course cost
• Up to £60 towards travel costs
• £15 per night towards accommodation costs

Further information

Grant aid will only be given to those living within the recognised city boundaries and/or those who are members of a recognised Plymouth Sports Club or organisation, who are non-profit making.

It should also be noted that even if you meet all the criteria shown, there can be no guarantee that your application will be successful. Considerable response to this scheme is expected and prioritising may be necessary.
