Funding for physical activity and sport

If you need funding for physical activity and sport there are a number of different options available to you. Funding provisions are available both locally and nationally.

Active Living Fund

Active Living Fund gives small grants to fund projects and activities that directly lead to people taking part in sustained physical activity. The fund is open to applications from charities and other voluntary and community organisations. The top priority beneficiary area is family units, children and adults undertaking physical activity together and the second priority area is children aged up to 18.

Barclays Spaces for Sports Fund

Barclays Spaces for Sports is a major investor in grassroots sports and focuses on regeneration and sports. They will fund the development of sporting facilities (and this could be a skateboard park for instance) together with providing initial revenue funding, equipment and expert assistance.

BIG Lottery Fund

BIG is the largest distributor of Lottery money. BIG hand out half the good causes money from the National Lottery. They are committed to bringing real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need. This year they will hand out £630 million to community organisations and to projects for health, education and the environment.

Devon Funding News

The Devon Funding News is published by the External Funding Team of the Children and Young People's Services of Devon County Council with contributions from the Economy and Regeneration Team.

Support guidance is available from StreetGames to help you apply for the small grants of:

  • Awards for All (max of £10,000)
  • Football Foundation (max of £9,000)
  • Co-op (max of £5,000)
