Sports and recreational grant aid
Plymouth City Council is committed to supporting individuals, clubs and organisations to create opportunities to develop sport within Plymouth.
What grant aid is available?
Under the Council's scheme there are currently two categories of grant aid.
Sporting qualifications, courses or workshops
This grant aid scheme provides a contribution towards:
- a coaching or officiating course
- a leadership award
- a development/good practice workshop or course
- a sport related volunteer training course
The above qualifications/awards or courses must be nationally recognised by a National Governing Body (NGB) or other sporting body, such as Sportscoach UK, Sport England or the British Sports Trust. For further information please download the document below.
Travel and accommodation
This grant aid scheme provides a contribution towards travel and accommodation costs incurred as a result of competing at events/competitions.
Applicants must have attained or aspire to the following performance level: county, regional, national or international.

How much support can you expect to receive?
The scheme is to provide assistance and not fund activities in their entirety.
Who will consider the application?
All grant applications will be considered by the Grants Committee. Meetings will take place in June, September, December and March of each year.
Further information
Grant aid will only be given to those living within the recognised city boundaries and/or those who are members of a recognised Plymouth Sports Club or organisation, who are non-profit making.
It should also be noted that even if you meet all the criteria shown, there can be no guarantee that your application will be successful. Considerable response to this scheme is expected and prioritising may be necessary.
