On this page you will find introductions to some of the most relevant strategic documents for sport and physical recreation in the city.

Sports Development Unit Strategy 2005 to 2007

The first Sports Development Strategy was produced in January 2002 and links to the objectives of Sports Plan 2020.

That strategy was reviewed in August 2003 and this new strategy reflects the many changes that will influence our delivery in the future. This includes Game Plan, Sport England’s review, the South West Regional Plan for Sport and a new corporate plan.

Game Plan

This strategy document was published by the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit and outlines the delivery of the Government's sport and physical activity objectives.

South West Regional Plan for Sport

This regional plan for sport and activity will focus on the key priorities and actions which are needed if change is to take place in the south west.

The South West Regional Plan for Sport can be found on the Sport England South West website.

Sports Plan 2020

This document shares a vision of how Plymouth will change things for the better, in order to deliver high standard sports and recreational activities. It also outlines a number of objectives and proposed actions in order to achieve this vision.

Plymouth Playing Pitch Strategy

This document identifies all playing pitches in the city, their ownership and usage. It also assesses the demand for these pitches and the future needs of sports clubs.
