Reynolds Paintings at Port Eliot
Port Eliot, St Germans
Until 10 June, 2pm to 6pm (last entries at 5pm)
In early 2007, we acquired 23 portraits from the Trustees of the Port Eliot Estate through the acceptance in lieu scheme. The core of the portraits is a group of 14 works by Sir Joshua Reynolds, one of Plymouth’s most famous artists, with a further nine artworks painted by some of his contemporaries.
Port Eliot, the family home of Lord and Lady St Germans, is now open to the public so that these works of art can be seen in their traditional setting. In addition, visitors can look around the gardens and see inside a house which has evolved from a medieval monastery into a family home. Port Eliot has been in continuous occupation by the Eliot family since 1560 and includes the Round Room painted with a mural by Robert Lenkiewicz.
For admission details and other information please visit the Port Eliot website.

Ford Park Cemetery Rejuven8 Appeal Summer Fair
Saturday 21 June
Ford Park Cemetery is hosting a summer fair from 2pm until 5pm to raise money towards its Rejuven8 appeal - a project which will see this special place thrive serving the local community as a heritage gem and beautiful green open space in the heart of the city centre.
Families are welcome with a Bug Hunt by Wild About Plymouth from 2pm until 4pm; a children’s trail with prizes for visitors aged nine to 12 years old and their parents all afternoon and a guided walk on the 34.5 acre site starting at 3pm.
Various stalls will have books, toys, bric-a-brac and books for sale. Cream teas will be served and music performed by talented members of Plymouth Youth Concert Band.
All proceeds will boost the Rejuven8 appeal to restore the Grade II listed Victorian Gothic Revival chapel into a beautiful community events venue with, subject to enough money being raised, a memorial to the civilian war dead of Plymouth, and conversion of the other chapel in to a heritage centre with a focus on Victorian Plymouth.
For more information contact 01752 665442 or visit the Ford Park Cemetery website.
