Who is a carer?
A carer is someone who looks after a family member, friend or neighbour who cannot manage alone because of their age, frailty, disability or illness.
Some carers do not want to be known to Plymouth City Council, and we understand this, but we still want them to be kept informed. To receive regular newsletters and updates about new services available, carers can contact Carers Champions and Plymouth Age Concern and ask to be added to the carers database that they keep.
Carers can be any age and do not need to live with the person they care for.
Some people don’t like being referred to as a 'carer' but it is just a word the Government uses to describe a person who looks after someone else and is not paid to do so.
Some carers do not want to be known to Plymouth City Council, and we understand this, but we still want them to be kept informed. Carers can contact Plymouth Age Concern and Carers Champions and request to have their name added to their carers database to receive regular newsletters and updates on information and issues relevant to carers.
