Adoptive parents urgently needed throughout the South West!
There is currently a nationwide shortage of adoptive parents and people from throughout the South West are urgently needed to adopt children from Plymouth.
Every year between 30 and 40 children from Plymouth are looking for an adoptive family, with not enough families to adopt them. As a result, there are often a number of children waiting in foster care for a permanent family. For some children, the wait can be as long as two years, and Plymouth City Council would like to see no child wait for longer than six months.
Research has shown that many people would like to adopt a child, but either believe there aren’t enough children to go round, or that they wouldn’t be eligible. This website aims to dispel the myths surrounding adoption in order to help tackle the shortage of adoptive parents for Plymouth children.
You can adopt whether you are:
- Single, married or living together
- Gay or straight
- Working, self-employed or unemployed
- Any age, from 21 to over 40
- White British or from a minority ethnic group
- Christian, not religious or from any other religion
To see whether you might be eligible, why not try our quiz?
Could you make that leap and adopt for Plymouth?
