Domestic Abuse - Working Together to Safeguard Children (DAS)

The Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB) offers a range of up-to-date statutory training in areas of Best Practice concerning Safeguarding Children and Child Protection. All courses are inter-agency, offering participants the opportunity to meet practitioners and managers from a variety of agencies, to better understand the essential inter-agency nature of all child protection work in Plymouth.

Domestic Abuse - Working Together to Safeguard Children (DAS) is a two day course and is available for successful participants from the one-day course, Understanding Domestic Abuse and Child Protection (DAA), offering more in-depth understanding of diagnosis and interventions.

This course offers an in-depth understanding of the new PSCB model for working with domestic abuse.

The three general imperatives of any intervention for children exposed to domestic violence are:

  • to protect the children
  • to empower the mother to protect herself and her children
  • to hold the abusive partner accountable for his violence and provide him with the opportunities to change.

The course details can be downloaded below:

Please see our safeguarding, learning and development page which provides the background information to the training we offer. The training course page gives full details of other courses available and the PSCB training calendar.
