Working Together to Safeguard Children (CPA)
The Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB) offers a range of up-to-date statutory training in areas of Best Practice concerning Safeguarding Children and Child Protection. All courses are inter-agency, offering participants the opportunity to meet practitioners and managers from a variety of agencies, to better understand the essential inter-agency nature of all child protection work in Plymouth.
Understanding Child Protection (CPF) is the gateway course to all PSCB training and learning opportunities. Once completed, successful participants can access all other PSCB courses including Working Together to Safeguard Children.
This course directly develops the learning offered at CPF. This advanced training takes place over two days and is delivered by lead officers in the field of child protection from both Health and Children’s Services. Ensuring consideration of the barriers to effective child protection caused by personal attitudes and behaviours, procedural deficiencies, agency boundaries and/or inter-agency rivalries, this programme asks practitioners to develop sound judgement and professional dignity to ensure the child’s interests are paramount at all times.
Reflective learning, including reading and group discussion is required, alongside role play scenarios and self-assessment.
The course details can be downloaded below:
Please see our safeguarding, learning and development page which provides the background information to the training we offer. The training course page gives full details of other courses available and the PSCB training calendar.
To check availability of courses please check the PSCB training calendar; a copy can be downloaded from the training course page. If you want to apply for this course, please fill in our application form below.
