Mobility and transport
We are able to provide support with public transport costs to certain people. This includes Blue Badges for people with disabilities as well as railcards for young people, seniors, families and people with disabilities.
Plymouth City Council offer concessionary fares to eligible older and disabled persons. We are acknowledged as offering the best concessionary fares scheme in the entire South West and one of the most comprehensive nationally. We invest over £2.4 million a year in providing concessionary fares to pensioners and school children. The former to ensure that pensioners are able to move freely about the city and the latter to reduce the impact of school run trips on peak hour traffic reducing congestion, pollution and travelling times.
The creation of new parking spaces for people with disabilities is a discretionary service subject to safety and planning considerations.
Hire of minibus transport is available to registered community organisations.
Plymouth Shopmobility at Mayflower East Car Park operate a number of services for people with mobility problems including wheelchair and Scooter Hire, a Community Car Scheme, and Ring and Ride bus and taxi-cards.
