MANAGING PERFORMANCE

A satisfactory level of performance at work by all of us is crucial to the functioning of the Council and each of its Departments.

Your line manager is responsible for providing clear information to you about the range of tasks and duties you are required to undertake, and for giving you feedback on your performance.

Managing Performance procedures are needed:

  • So you know what is expected of you in terms of standards of performance (and the likely consequences of continued failure to meet these standards)
  • To identify obstacles to individuals achieving the required standards (eg training needs, lack of clarity of job requirements, additional support needed) and take appropriate action
  • As an opportunity to agree suitable goals and timescales for improvement in an individual's performance or conduct
