Energy management
The Council is under pressure to efficiently manage its use of natural resources, which includes energy, water and waste. The Council aims to comply with the Climate Change Act 2008 which sets difficult targets to lower emissions - 80 per cent by 2050 of the 1990 baseline levels.
The pressures placed on the Council to reduce their use of natural resources include:
- Climate change
- Energy security
- Energy cost
- Energy legislation
- Corporate spending review
Due to the size of the organisation we also have to comply with the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRCEE). Schools emissions represent a large part of the Council’s carbon footprint, and play an important role in how the Council is performing in the scheme. The scheme has a legal duty to assist the Council in achieving its carbon reduction aims.
