PC replacement programme
These pages contain information about the PC replacement programme; what you should do to prepare if your PC or laptop is being replaced, answers to frequently asked questions and links to useful documents.
What is the PC replacement programme?
It is a commitment to replace all PCs every three years.
Why do we have a PC replacement programme?
In the past PCs were purchased and replaced on an ad hoc basis depending on the availability of funds in the departments. This led to an inconsistency between departments in the standard and reliability of their IT equipment. To address this, budgets were transferred to ISD to fund an ongoing replacement programme corporately. ISD's commitment in return, was to replace PCs in departments every three years.
Having up to date IT equipment aides both you (the user) and ISD (the service provider) to become more efficient, and reduce the risk of disruption to your normal service through the failure or poor performance of aging PCs.
The replacement programme will also provide updated software, which is more secure and has better functionality. This enables us as an authority to deliver a better and more customer focused service.
Where to go next

There are guidance notes within the IT training help and support pages for Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003. There are also help pages for the new Outlook EmailXtender tool.
