Highways register
This document is the City of Plymouth list of highways maintainable at public expense as required under Section 36 sub sections (6) and (7) of the Highways Act 1980. The list includes those streets over which highway rights have been extinguished. Also included is a street directory, which is a requirement under the Act.
The information given in this document is for assistance. The highway register is constantly being amended and updated.
Where there are doubts about the status of any particular street then you should contact in writing the City Council's Development Consents (Transport) Team at the Civic Centre for clarification. The fee for information normally is £15 per letter/enquiry/plan (fees are currently being reviewed) but in certain cases no charge will be made.
From 1 March 2008 we would appreciate it if you could enclose your cheque with your enquiry for the amount (eg £30 for letter only or £60 for letter and plan and additional information will be £90). Cheques should be made payable to Plymouth City Council and a receipt will be enclosed with our reply.
