Plymouth's subsidised bus services
Helping to get you to work, shopping, school and healthcare…
Most of the city's bus services are run by private companies on a commercial basis, with the exception of 17 (less than five per cent of the total network) which currently rely on financial support from the Council. Some of these are Monday to Saturday daytime services and others are evening and Sunday extensions to existing, commercially run services. The financial support provided by the Council allows local bus and taxi companies to run services at times when they would not otherwise be operated.
Some routes operate during the day providing access to shopping, healthcare at Derriford Hospital or work, whilst others operate during the evenings.
Most of our supported bus routes are operated by buses but Plymouth has pioneered the use of taxibuses to complement the city's sustainable transport network.
Please remember that the future operation of these services is dependent upon your continued patronage.
Check our list below to see if Plymouth is helping you to make use of our network of local bus services.
