What do I do if my pass has not arrived by 1 April 2008?
If you applied before 7 March and have not received your pass, or a letter from us advising you that your pass may be delayed, you should contact us on 01752 668000. If you applied after 7 March you will not receive your pass by 1 April or a letter from us advising you of this. Please refer to the information below about obtaining a temporary pass.
What do I do if my pass has not arrived on time, and I want to continue travelling on buses?
If you only want to travel within the Plymouth city boundary, you can continue to do so using your existing Plymouth bus pass. This arrangement will remain in place until 30 September 2008. After this time the old Plymouth bus passes will be withdrawn by drivers if they are presented for travel.
If you want to travel outside the Plymouth city boundary, you will need a temporary National pass. These will only be issued in the Civic Centre. To get a temporary National pass you need to bring your existing Plymouth bus pass in to the Civic Centre. When issued with the temporary National pass this must be used in conjunction with your existing Plymouth pass as the Plymouth pass will act as the photocard.
What do I do if my pass has not arrived but I do not currently hold an existing Plymouth bus pass?
We will continue to issue the old style passes until everyone registering for the new scheme before 31 March 2008 has received their pass. To get an old style pass you will need to go to the main reception on the ground floor of the Civic Centre, with proof of your age or disability and proof of your Plymouth address. The temporary National pass referred to above will be issued at the same time if this is required.
If I am over 80 years old or registered blind, how will the driver know?
Your new National pass will have a ‘+’ symbol in the top right hand corner, which will indicate to the driver that you are entitled to this additional concession.
What should I do if any of the information on the pass is wrong?
You should report this to Plymouth City Council immediately and we will arrange for a replacement pass to be sent to you free of charge. Once you have received the new pass, the one showing incorrect details should be returned to the Public Transport Team, Plymouth City Council, Civic Centre, Plymouth, PL1 2AA.
What does 'Plymcard' mean on the back of my pass?
Your new National pass will also act as your Plymcard within Plymouth. For full details of what this entitles you to please telephone 01752 307096 or visit our Plymcard pages.
My new pass has an expiry date on it. What do I do when it expires?
If you have an age pass this will automatically be renewed and sent to you before the expiry date. If you have a disability pass you will need to renew your pass in person, bringing with you relevant proof of your eligibility.
I am a blue badge holder and my pass expires on 1 May 2008. Why does it only last a short time?
Because your information was taken from the blue badge database and your badge expired before 30 April 2008, your pass expiry defaulted to this date.
If you are over 60 we are aware that you are eligible for a pass on grounds of age and will automatically be reissuing you with a new pass before the expiry date. If you are under 60, as your blue badge was due to expire on or before 30 April, we have amended the expiry date to 1 May 2008 to allow you time to re-register for your bus pass once you have renewed your blue badge.
Please take your new blue badge with you or another form of proof of your disability. You should have received a letter from us explaining this. You can reregister from 21 April 2008 at the Civic Centre.
I am a blue badge holder and my pass expires this year. Why does it only last a short time?
Because your information was taken from the blue badge database and your badge expired this year, your pass expiry defaulted to the same as your blue badge expiry date.
To ensure we do not have to re-issue 47,000 passes to residents at the same time again in a few years we have staggered the expiry date on the passes. Some passes expire this year, others run until 2013. If you are over 60 and have been issued with a new concessionary bus pass, you will automatically receive a new pass in the post before your existing pass expires.
If you are under 60 you will need to renew your pass in person bringing with you relevant proof of your eligibility. This process takes ten days so please allow time for your pass to arrive before the current pass expires. You can reregister from 21 April 2008 at the Civic Centre.
What happens to my pass when I become 80?
When you become 80 you will automatically be re-issued with the new over 80s pass that will entitle you to free travel within Plymouth before 9.30am weekdays.
