Streets

The section provides all the information relating to council owned streets within the city boundary. The council is responsible for ensuring that Plymouth’s streets are clean, safe and in a good state of repair. A number of council functions play a role in achieving this, such as:

• keeping the streets lit at night
• maintaining the highway (roads and footpaths)
• maintaining and controlling traffic signals
• maintaining and repairing street furniture (benches and signs)
• sweeping and cleaning footpaths and highways
• cleaning public conveniences
• removing graffiti and fly posters
• dealing with fly tipping
• dealing with abandoned vehicles
• emptying litter and dog waste bins
