Transport planning

Strategic and longer-term transport planning advice is provided by the City Council's Transport Strategy Team.

The main functions include:

• the development, preparation and submission of Plymouth's Local Transport Plan (LTP) that will cover the period 2006 to 2011
• monitoring and reporting the progress towards the targets and objectives contained in the LTP through the Annual Progress Report (APR) process
• development of the longer term strategic transport vision and objectives for the city and its surrounding area - looking towards 2026
• provision of strategic transport advice for other city council departments, major development proposals, neighbouring local authorities and regional and national bodies
• preparation of strategies and plans for specific transport modes, areas and issues known as Supporting Documents
• Project management of major scheme proposals from initial concept through feasibility up to the final design and delivery stage
