Climate change
The impacts and implications for Plymouth
Plymouth’s City Strategy includes a commitment to produce a local climate change action plan by the end of 2004 as one of the 26 priority targets (target 13). It is important that this plan is realistic and supported by the people of Plymouth.
Large scale changes will require large capital investments and have long lead in times. However, it is possible for everyone to make relatively small changes that will have a substantial cumulative effect on our quality of life.
This report by the Plymouth 2020 Environment and Sustainability Partnership outlines current views on the impact of climate change and the potential for sustainable energy use as they relate to Plymouth. It also makes some recommendations or the steps required to set us on the path to a climate friendly future; highlighting some of the risks if we choose not to take action.
