Do we provide valuations?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide valuations or authentications for items. Under usual circumstance we can provide opinions on artefacts through our object identification service. This is temporarily suspended however due to our refurbishment programme. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will resume our service as soon as is possible.

If you have an item that you think may be of historical importance and you would like to get its value confirmed, we would suggest that you contact a commercial valuer. Details can be found in the Yellow Pages.

How can I obtain an image of an object or painting from the collection?

Although photography is not allowed at the Museum without prior consent, copies of images from our collections can be obtained. Please refer to the document in the documents table below to find out how.

Where can I find out about paid employment and volunteer opportunities at Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery?

Paid employment opportunities are always advertised on Museum Jobs and on our council job vacancies page. Selected posts are also advertised in the press.

If you would like to volunteer at the Museum, please send details of what type of work you are interested in and your background to museum@plymouth.gov.uk or Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery, Drake Circus, Plymouth PL4 8AJ.

Where can I find details of our forthcoming exhibitions?

Details of any up coming exhibitions can be found in our exhibitions and displays area. This is updated regularly as soon as new exhibitions are confirmed.

Details of our exhibitions programme are also contained in our Exhibitions and Events leaflet and publicised in the press. So, keep your eyes peeled!

If you’d like to be kept up to date with information why not add your details to our mailing list to receive free e-bulletins?

Where possible, information will be sent out by email although we are also able to send information by post.
