Naval studies resources
The Naval Studies Library contains many and varied resources useful to those wishing to learn about or study in depth naval history.
The extensive collection includes items covering the Royal Navy, Nato and European and Commonwealth navies.
Resources are for reference only, but copies of some items are held in the Lending Library.
Books
- Information covering the complete history of the Royal Navy.
- Special collections of titles from the Hakluyt Society and the Naval Record Society.
- Complete run of Janes Fighting Ships dating from 1898.
- Biographical details available from biographical compilations.
- Admiralty charts for the local area, both historical and current.
Periodicals
- Historical and current periodicals, including Naval Chronicle, Navy News, Naval History, Mariners Mirror, Warship World, and Ships Monthly.
- The Naval and Military Record 1886 to 1936, available on microfilm.
- Indexed cuttings and other ephemera.
