Public can comment on ideas for the city centre
People who live, work and play in Plymouth are being invited to comment on big ideas to put the city centre in the top 10 shopping destinations in the country.
A new anchor store, a landmark building and areas for culture, learning, shops and offices are part of a package of ideas to guide development and pump people, passion and spending power into Plymouth for the next 20 years.
Plymouth City Council has set out ideas to create jobs, inspire visitors, help keep business buzzing and galvanise the local economy in its draft City Centre and University Area Action Plan.
Now the Council wants to hear what residents think about the big picture that has been drawn up for how the centre could develop. And from today people can make comments about City Centre and University Area Action Plan online.
There will also be events taking place in the next six weeks where planners will be on hand to talk to people and take their suggestions and comments.

Councilor Ted Fry, Cabinet Member for Planning, Strategic Housing and Economic Growth said: "We have set out what we think is needed to seal the city’s future as a top regional shopping destination, but also one of the greenest cities in the country. We want to hear from as many people as possible about what they think of these ideas, which we hope will guide the city centre to even bigger and better things.”
