Thinking of holding a Diamond Jubilee street party?
We are inviting expressions of interest from people who are considering holding street parties to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The celebrations will centre around an extended bank holiday weekend from Saturday 2 to Tuesday 5 June.
If you are thinking of holding an outdoor party on the public highway (any road or footway maintained by Plymouth Transport and Highways) you will need a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) to close the road. We are not charging for Diamond Jubilee road closures, but you must have a TTRO in place.
Organisers are being asked to register their interest now so that any road closures and traffic management plans that may be required can be properly coordinated ahead of the event.
If you are considering holding a street party please email highways@plymouth.gov.uk, call 01752 668000 or write to Plymouth Transport and Highways, Civic Centre, Armada Way, Plymouth, PL1 2AA by Friday 13 April at the latest. You will need to provide your name, telephone number, email or postal address and the proposed location and time of your event.
Once expressions of interest have been received we will look at the locations being put forward and ensure they are suitable before sending out road closure application forms to organisers.
As the highways authority we cannot agree to too many parties in one area and may put organisers in contact with each other with a view to combining their celebrations where this is appropriate.
