Labour victory in local elections
Plymouth City Council has a new Labour administration after the party gained six seats in Thursday’s local elections.
Labour now has 31 councillors, compared to the Conservatives’ 26.
Polls opened at 7am and closed at 10pm. The count took place shortly afterwards at Plymouth Guildhall.
Overall turnout was 33 per cent.
The Council will appoint a new leader at the annual Council meeting on Friday 18 May. The new Leader will then select a Cabinet.
