Popular areas and non adventure activities
This guidance can generally be applied to:
- urban studies
- countryside visits
- coast and beach
- fresh water sites
- farm visits
- woodland sites
- fishing from land
Management plans for self lead activities
For a proposed trip to any of the above areas the party leader will draw up a management plan, based upon risk and quality assessment, and other relevant factors.
It will generally provide for:
- information about the area to be able to plan appropriate activities and contingencies for accidents and emergencies
- risk assessment to help plan supervision including staff with specific responsibilities, for example first aid
- appropriate learning activities and strategies
- knowledge of the participants so that they can be managed safely and productively
- associated travel, accommodation, administration and liaison with parents.
