Radford Woods Proposed Local Nature Reserve
Radford Woods is located to the south east of Plymouth. The site covers 37.28ha and is owned and managed by the Plymouth City Council and is accessible to the public. The site is made up of a collection of areas including Jennyscombe Wood, Barn Wood, Brixtonhall Plantation, Basinghall Plantation and Buddle Wood. A variety of habitats are present including semi-natural woodland, woodland plantation, grassland, old quarry, still and running water.
The site is also designated as a County Wildlife Site because of the presence of Ancient Woodland within the site and the presence of ancient woodland indicator species in other areas of the site such as wild garlic, moschatel, pignut, yellow pimpernel, wood millet, bluebell and primrose. The notable species deptford pink is also present on the fringe of the site.
