Creative writing advice from Roy York
Roy is writing a series of articles for us, aimed at anyone interested in creative writing.
Take a look at the following articles:
About Roy York
Roy left school at 13 to work in Fleet Street. After a spell doing war work he worked in a joke factory, but didn't see much of a future in stink bombs and whoopee cushions, so he volunteered for the army.
After being demobbed, he worked variously for a jeweller, in the book trade, as a civil servant, on the buses, in local government, estate management and ended up teaching horticulture. I think you could say it took some time for Roy to find his niche in life.
He has written several short stories, had a comedy series on radio - he has written sketches and quickies for Russ Abbott and Hale and Pace amongst others. He has also written tour guides, magazine articles and runs comedy writing courses and creative writing classes.
