Substance misuse support

Help and support

Recovery support is available for any young person or adult who is considering reducing their intake of harmful substances, or is seeking help to stop their use altogether:

Harbour Centre – Harbour can support with both talking therapy, and clinical interventions for all types of Substances (including alcohol, and prescription medication). Clinical services are delivered in partnership with Livewell Southwest. Harbour offer support for adults, young people (via SHARP) and families.

Young Person's Substance Misuse Service - works to keep young people safe from harm via a team of specialists supporting young people (under the age of 18) struggling with substance use. The service is provided by the Children's Society, and the team includes transition workers to support care from this service to Harbour (adult services)

Hamoaze House provides support to adults, families, individuals and young people whose lives are affected either directly or indirectly by problematic relationships with alcohol and other substances.

The Plymouth Alliance is a network of organisations that are working together to support individuals with complex needs/living complex lives. The Alliance aims to ensure that people receive the right support, at the right time, at the right place. This includes support for those at risk of homelessness, rough sleeping support, and mental health support.

Plymouth Online Directory has a list of groups and organisations that provide recovery support, no matter what the substance, or goal.

The NHS website also contains useful information on where to get help for drug and alcohol use, what to expect when you work with recovery support services, and the different types of treatment available. There is also advice for families of those affected by substance use.

Local Drug Information System

The Local Drug Information System (LDIS) is the process used for people to report unexpected effects of drugs via the form. Reports of new, potent, or contaminated drugs are collated and this information is verified by a panel of local experts using a matrix for grading the intelligence. The panel assesses the information and decides if a drug alert or warning is required. These alerts or warnings are then sent to the appropriate people or services.

Use the form if you have any information relating to potent, contaminated, or adulterated drugs.
