How we ensure that your views influence our services

We run a number of surveys and consultations every year, the results of which are used to develop our services and - in some cases - those of other public service providers, such as the Police. These include:

Place Survey

The Place Survey is a biennial survey carried out to inform services delivered by Plymouth City Council and its partner organisations (Plymouth 2020) including the Police, Health and the Fire Service. Findings from the Place Survey also help the partnership monitor and develop the Local Area Agreement.

Ofsted Tellus Survey

An online survey carried out to gather the views of children and young people. The 2008 survey findings have been used to develop the Children and Young People's Trust Plan 2008 to 2011.

Plymouth Local Involvement Network (LINk)

We have a working arrangement with Colebrook Housing Society to act as host for Plymouth's Local Involvement Network. Plymouth LINk will help you have your say about health and social care services in the city. Representatives of the LINk will also sit on Plymouth City Council's Health and Wellbeing Overview and Scrutiny Panel.

Over 50s

We have published All our Futures - Plymouth's Strategy for the over 50s. Amongst the strategy's many commitments is a commitment to making sure that older people (over 50) have a voice in shaping services that affect them. One way that we are doing this is through work with Colebrook Housing Society which is developing an advisory partnership for older people (PAPOP). Young people and children

If you are aged between 11 and 18, the UK Youth Parliament gives you a chance to have your say on issues that matter most to you. For more information please email ukyp@plymouth.gov.uk.

Councillors and committees

As well as the range of ways that you can get involved in local decision making there are a number of ways that you can get involved directly in decisions made by the Council. You can do this by:

• contacting your local councillor
• attending meetings
• voting in elections
