What we can help with

• Any enquiry relating to the holdings of the Plymouth and West Devon Record Office.
• How to access to original records or copies of records in our search room. You may wish to look at our online archive catalogues too.
• Information on how to get copies of documents - please see our photocopying page.

What we cannot help with

• Any enquiry based on records created by Plymouth City Council within the last 20 years. This is a Freedom of Information request - please visit the general requests for information page for details.
• Detailed research. We can provide the names of independent researchers who do this on payment of a fee to be agreed with you.
• Enquiries about records that are exempt from Freedom of Information (Section 21) or the Environmental Information Regulations. Closures are usually indicated in our catalogue. In some instances we will review closures on request.
