This is a Devon County Geological Site and is located on the west side of the Plym Valley, north of Plymbridge. The small disused quarries and cuttings in the woodland trackway provide exposures of Middle Devonian slate, which has been intruded by a micro-granitic dyke that extends into Cann Quarries on the east side of the River Plym. The dyke has been worked and exposed at two quarries at the site.
The area is generally safe but care must be taken when approaching rock exposures and old quarry faces. The site can be accessed through various woodland paths and tracks including the Plym Valley Trail. There is a regular bus service from Plymouth to Plympton and the site is within walking distance of the nearest bus stop. Car parking is available at Plymbridge to the south of the site.
