The 2013 review of parliamentary constituency boundaries
The Boundary Commission for England is currently undertaking a review of Parliamentary constituency boundaries.
This review - which must report to Parliament by 2013 - is being carried out under new rules laid down in the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011.
What's changing?
The new rules mean there will be substantial changes to Parliamentary constituencies in England. These include:
- Reducing the total number of constituencies from 533 to 502; and
- Making sure that each constituency contains a similar number of registered electors.
The initial proposals
The initial proposals can be viewed on The Boundary Commission for England website.
The Boundary Commission would like your views
The final shape of the new constituency boundaries will be informed by consultation. The Commission is encouraging electors to comment, whether in support of or objection to the initial proposals. All representations will be considered and they may revise the constituency boundary as a result.
How can you get involved?
You can have your say in one of two ways:
- In writing (either by using the Commission's online form, by emailing them at reviews@bcommengland.x.gsi.gov.uk or by writing to the Boundary Commission for England); or
