Scheme 1
Installation of real time passenger information displays at key bus stops to improve information about public transport.
The installation of real time passenger information (RTPI) displays at strategic sites on the Northern Corridor was completed last year. The displays have been installed at:
- Derriford Hospital
- Mutley Plain
- Crownhill High Level
- Alma Road (Milehouse Bus Depot)
- Mannamead Road (Golden Hind)
- Outland Road (Morrisons)
- Outland Road (Home Park)
- Tavistock Road (Great Berry Road)
- Mannamead Road (Vapron Road and Hartley Reservoir)

Scheme 2
Adding raised kerbs at bus stops making it easier for passengers to get on and off buses.
Seven bus boarders were constructed at the following bus stops on the Northern Corridor:
Outbound:
- Tavistock Road (McDonalds)
- Tavistock Road (Powisland Drive)
- Tavistock Road (Woolwell Roundabout)
- Tavistock Road (Tesco footbridge)
- Crownhill Low Level
Inbound:
- Tavistock Road (Tesco footbridge)
- Tavistock Road (Powisland Drive)
- Tavistock Road (Great Berry Road)
Scheme 3
Air quality monitoring at various locations throughout the city.
- Continuous air quality monitors have been installed at Alma Road, Royal Parade and Tavistock Road at Morshead Road and are working successfully.
- The Council will be receiving data from all three sites which will enable emission-related traffic management strategies to be developed.
Scheme 4
Developing a Strategic Cycle Network to allow targeted improvements to the network in the future and encourage cycling.
The Strategic Cycle Network, allowing targeted improvements to the network to encourage cycling, is now an adopted policy document. Schemes are being taken forward to deliver aspects of the network including cycle network improvements in the East End, to be delivered as part of the East End Transport Scheme, and a cycle path at Leigham Primary School which is being jointly funded by the Council and Sustrans and is anticipated to be delivered in summer 2010.
Consultation and public engagement
- Plymouth's Cycle Forum and the cycle touring club were consulted during the development of the Strategic Cycle Network and have had an active role in developing the network.
