Hospices provide care specifically for terminally ill people and give support to their carers both in the hospice and at home. They often work in combination with Macmillan Nursing.
Plymouth City Council does not provide hospice care. However, there are a number of hospices based in Devon, which provide support to terminally ill adults and their families. Admission is arranged through your doctor or hospital consultant:
Some other organisations in Devon specialise in home support to terminally ill people, for example Marie Curie Cancer Care have a community care service team to help with pain relief and a day therapy unit in Tiverton, telephone 01884 703500.
Some private nursing and rest homes also specialise in the care of terminally ill people.
