Scrutiny

Scrutiny is one of the ways in which our performance is monitored and it holds decision-makers accountable for the action that they have taken.

Scrutiny involves:

• Analysis and researching policy and policy options and making recommendations to the Cabinet and/or Full Council
• Reviewing decisions made by the Cabinet to assess their impact and effectiveness
• Contacting other agencies and organisations - whether in the city or further afield about issues affecting local people
• Investigating issues connected with delivery of the our services
• Monitoring our performance and budget to ensure that it is meeting its aims and objectives
