Information for providers

This section is for all early years' providers, including nurseries, pre-schools, crèches, childminders, and out of school provision. They will provide you with information and documents about various national and local programmes that are relevant to your area of work.

Early Years Foundation Stage

All schools and registered early years providers in the maintained, private, voluntary and independent sectors must follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This page contains information regarding the statutory framework and practice guidance.

Learning and development

Supportive information and documents regarding the learning and development, including information for primary schools, learning journeys, every child a talker, the toddler toolkit, observations tools and many more resources.

Safeguarding and welfare

Information and documents regarding safeguarding, including national guidance, and safeguarding bulletins from the early years service. This section also includes guidance on Ofsted, how to access the Early Years HR support, setting up a child care provision and equality and inclusion guidance

Bristol Standard

The Bristol Standard is a self-evaluation framework and was introduced in Bristol in 2000, it encourages providers to be reflective and supports them through a journey of continuous improvement.

Inclusion works

This service supports the inclusion of disabled children and young people (0 to 16) during their transition into play, leisure and extended schools opportunities, wrap-around-care, childminding and early years provisions.
