The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) is a government department whose main aim is to help improve the quality and standards of education and childcare through independent inspection and regulation. This page contains information regarding the differing Ofsted registers, and the regulation and inspection, self evaluation and complaints processes.
All schools and registered early years providers in the maintained, private, voluntary and independent sectors must follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This page contains information regarding the statutory framework and practice guidance.

There are also some useful templates and audit tools available, including the Plymouth Transfer Document and observation tools.

The Early Years Service has teamed up with colleagues in the Council’s HR department to provide some generic HR support to all early years providers. This page contains the request for support form, workshop presentations, advisory bulletins and newsletters.
