Medium was a week long pop up Art gallery situated at number 8 Frankfort Gate open between the 7th -11th of February.
Medium showcased work from four students/ graduates of the University of Plymouth, whose practice blurs the boundaries of conventional contemporary medium. The work ranged from performative drawing to sculptural film.
James Eden is a Graduate of Fine Art at the University of Plymouth and is currently undertaking a postgraduate critical practice residency at Plymouth Art Centre. He was recently awarded a prize for his collaborative work Burst 2010 (with Olly Rooks) at the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2010.
Jessica Killeen & Sam Taylor work collaboratively to create physically challenging performances with a strong link to both drawing and competition. The marks created within a performance are governed by either the other person or the environmental forces such as gravity and space. They create activities and tasks to test themselves and challenged their abilities, both physically and mentally. They blur together elements of drawing, performance and sculpture in an attempt to better understand their concepts.
Laurie Reynolds has recently graduated with a Master of Research degree in photography from the University of Plymouth, he is currently living and working in Plymouth.
