Monday 16 April 2012 sees the launch of our new Gold Standard menu with a great selection of food choices for the summer months.
The menus have been tried and tested in nine primary schools over the last few months and the comments and views of pupils and staff have been taken into account before the launch of the menu.
There are two slightly different menus and we asked individual schools through the pupils or School Council to decide which menu they would like served in their school. Both menus meet the required Government standards for school lunches and work on a three week cycle.
A copy of each of the menus is available to download, and you can find out which schools chose which menu on our menu selections page.
Four choices including the lighter-choice, cold lunch option and our traditional roast served on Thursdays.
Menu one [902KB]
Four choices as above, but the traditional roast is on different days each week. We hope that this will encourage parents and pupils to make their choices based on the menu rather than the day of the week.
Menu two [902KB]
Please also see the menus specifically produced for:
Menu for Brook Green Centre for Learning [937KB]
Menu for Mill Ford Community Special School [904KB]
Please contact the school or kitchen manager direct for secondary school and academy menus.
The service offers excellent value for money and are amongst the lowest priced in the region comparing very favourably with other authorities and providers across the south west.
The price of a school meal in Plymouth is:
This provides a main course, dessert and a drink of fruit juice, milk or water.
This provides a main course and a dessert (the meal of the day) which meets the food-based and nutrient based standards.
To avoid disadvantaging or discriminating against any pupil or student, the available free school meal (for those registered as eligible) and the paid for meal (the meal of the day) in secondary schools should both be available at the same value (£2.20).
A cafeteria style service is operated in secondary schools so parents/carers and students should consider that if items are selected other than the meal of the day then the total cost of the selected meal could be different to the above price.
For information on eligibility for free school meals and how to apply please visit our free school meals page.
