Conservation

Conservation at Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery involves the essential preservation and maintenance of all areas of the collections.

It is an important and often unseen aspect of the museum’s role with much work being done behind the scenes to ensure that the many thousands of items we hold are well cared for.

Our conservation staff also carry out collection surveys, environmental monitoring and control in all display and storage areas, supervise the installation and monitoring of exhibitions and help the museum staff members look after the collections they use and display.
