Discovery Centre Display

'Indigo: A Blue To Dye For' provided us with an exciting opportunity to work with school and community groups, exploring some of the uses and applications of one of the world's oldest and most magical dyestuffs.

The results of some of this work were displayed in our Discovery Centre during June 2007.

The display included blue t-shirts decorated with patterns and motifs found in the exhibition by clients from the Edith Freeman Unit, a day centre for adults with learning and physical disabilities.

Work produced by Woodside Special School was also featured in the display. Children worked with staff from the Museum for a day during their Multicultural Week in May 2007, using recycled materials and experiencing dyeing and weaving.
