Yes. Help is available through our support services, they can help you to arrange your support through an agency or to recruit your own staff. This can include, advertising, interviewing, contracts of employment and how much to pay.

Support services are available to support you with any concerns you might have. Your Care Manager will provide you with details of local support services.

Is the direct payments scheme optional?

Yes. If we say you are eligible to receive services paid for by the Council, you can either choose to take up direct payments or we can arrange the services for you. It is also possible to have your needs met by a mixture of both.

Will receiving direct payments affect my benefits?

No. Your entitlement to benefits like Income Support or Disability Living Allowance will be the same.

Are direct payments the same as when my benefits are paid into my bank account?

No. Direct payments from the Council are not the same as the government initiative which helps people to have their state benefits or pensions paid directly into a bank account.

Are there any restrictions on how the money is spent?
